Description

This is a big question considering each of our 5+ websites has some kind of event/calendaring capability. The questions here are attempting to address how events will be filtered, moderated, and displayed on the www site and the organize site, specifically.

www: how can a team of organizers/volunteers select from all 5+ sites' event content to display a polished list of upcoming events?

organize: should a large aggregate calendar of all groups' events be available for viewing/searching/filtering by all users?

On the www site's Events Calendar, we should have directions for how people can add their regional informational event to the calendar. I think there are two additions to the header of the calendar view:

  • Add directions and a link on how to sign up for the organize site and post events
  • Send an email to a USSF mailing list spaces [at] lists.ussf2010.org

  • summary changed from how should event content be displayed? to create promoted event rss for organize. and abc. sites and pull into www.

In order to get events from the organize.ussf2010.org and the abc.ussf2010.org sites onto the www.ussf2010.org Upcoming Events list, we can create separate, special views, which only include "promoted" events, and generate an RSS feed. Then the calendar on the www site can pull in those two special RSS feeds, plus anything extra that we want to add to the Upcoming Events list, too.
