How to attach files to the website

This is a guide on how to create file attachments to the www.ussf2010.org and sister domain sites.

Step 1: Attach the file

In the create content window, you will have the option to attach a file toward the bottom of the page. It will look like this:

  1. Click the "Browse" button, and find the file you want to attach, then click attach.
  2. Once you have attached the file, notice the 'path' under the attached file. You should highlight (with your mouse) and copy (either by right-clicking or Ctl-c) everything after ".org'. In this example, you would highlight and copy '/sites/default/files/howmuchwillitcost_ENG.pdf' (this is called the path to the file).

Step 2: Create the Link Text

Here you will choose where you want the link to the attachment to appear.

  1. Find the text you want to be the link.
  2. Highlight the text with your mouse and click on the link icon.

Step 3: Paste the file path

Here you complete the link.

  1. In the link dialog box, where you see "Link URL," paste in the path you copied in Step 1, either by right clicking your mouse or Ctl-v.
  2. Type a description which will display when the user's cursor is positioned over the link.
  3. Close the dialog box by clicking the [X] in the top right corner of the box.

Once you save your page, this link should open the document for the user. And that's all there is, happy posting!
