How to attach files to the website
This is a guide on how to create file attachments to the www.ussf2010.org and sister domain sites.
Step 1: Attach the file
In the create content window, you will have the option to attach a file toward the bottom of the page. It will look like this:
- Click the "Browse" button, and find the file you want to attach, then click attach.
- Once you have attached the file, notice the 'path' under the attached file. You should highlight (with your mouse) and copy (either by right-clicking or Ctl-c) everything after ".org'. In this example, you would highlight and copy '/sites/default/files/howmuchwillitcost_ENG.pdf' (this is called the path to the file).
Step 2: Create the Link Text
Here you will choose where you want the link to the attachment to appear.
- Find the text you want to be the link.
- Highlight the text with your mouse and click on the link icon.
Step 3: Paste the file path
Here you complete the link.
- In the link dialog box, where you see "Link URL," paste in the path you copied in Step 1, either by right clicking your mouse or Ctl-v.
- Type a description which will display when the user's cursor is positioned over the link.
- Close the dialog box by clicking the [X] in the top right corner of the box.
Once you save your page, this link should open the document for the user. And that's all there is, happy posting!
