ICT Representative Tasks

  • lead the US Social Forum in the development of its technology policies.
  • organize the progressive technology movement's participation in and support of the social forum movement.
  • protect and uphold the USSF technology principles.
  • create, maintain, and use tools with the organizing teams to facilitate internal and external communication.
  • raise consciousness about the political importance of technology to the social forum movement.

Daily/Weekly Schedule (all times EST)

Support hours include answering online support requests, taking support requests via email, developing online tools, collaborative sessions with ICT and other working group members, proactively organizing ICT project managers, and outreach according to the prioritized timeline below. Each support call requires accurate updates and representation of ICT and NPC guiding principles and consensed decisions with feedback in the form of providing notes and reports to ICT/NPC as necessary. The following time commitment is given thusly:

  1. pre and on-site online and mail-in participant and workshop registration (launch: January 1, 2009)

    • System for managing mobile registration, volunteer training input into CiviCRM in USSF offices (Detroit, December 28 - 31)

  1. Providing technology needs for the Forum site including a People's Media Center (in multiple languages) and wifi spots at 100 MB for more bandwidth and faster connections, as well as computer access for all participants (begin outreach campaign: January 1, 2009)

  1. System to manage translation flow of all writing material allowing for submission and forwarding to website and printer.
