Take as little info from the registration site. Create user account automatically Create open ID Sign them into the organize.ussf.org Encouraged from there to make a group, join a group, etc. Then the question is about housing, transport, visa request form etc. Also need to examine the session proposals.

Thinking about a roll out approach for the volunteer process. Where the initial registration has a checkbox then they can later be given instruction for signing up to organic groups.

List of Use Cases

  1. A user browses groups and decides to register at organize.ussf2010.org and create a group for her/his region and be an organizer.
    • From www.ussf2010.org or community.ussf2010.org, user clicks the "Organize" link, one of the common links appearing on every page, to organize.ussf2010.org
    • User follows main navigation link to "Create an Account" or "Start Organizing"
    • User is directed to Non-attendee Individual registration profile on community.ussf2010.org, reminded that this does not register them for the social forum. Link to registration page is provided.
    • User creates an account, confirmation email is sent, user follows link to confirm.
    • User follows groups.ussf2010.org landing page main navigation link to "Start a Group" and becomes the author, admin, and manager of new group
    • User can now invite other email addresses or users to join the group
  2. Individual who just wants to register. Goes straight to registration.
    • From groups.ussf2010.org or www.ussf2010.org, user follows common navigation block link "Register" to community.ussf2010.org
    • User follows main navigation link to "Individual Registration"
    • User completes "Individual" profile on community.ussf2010.org
    • User confirms registration via email, is sent to groups.ussf2010.org landing page
    • User account is automatically created for community.ussf2010.org and groups.ussf2010.org
    • Welcome email is sent, landing page gives options to user for engaging in the groups.ussf2010.org site
  3. Organization wants to register 2 members for the social forum.
    • Organization follows common block navigation link "Register" to community.ussf2010.org
    • Organization completes "Organization" profile on community.ussf2010.org
    • Organization also enters members' names and email address.
    • Organization confirms registration via email, is sent to groups.ussf2010.org landing page
    • Members receive registration completion instructions via email
    • Accounts for Organizations and Members are created automatically at groups.ussf2010.org, users and organization are sent to a landing page with further instructions on how to engage in groups.ussf2010.org site
  4. Organization wants to register 15 members for the social forum.
    • Organization follows common block navigation link "Register" to community.ussf2010.org
    • Organization completes "Organization" profile on community.ussf2010.org
    • Organization is asked to fill in members' names and email addresses, or create placeholders?
    • Organization confirms registration via email, is sent to groups.ussf2010.org landing page, maybe this email contains a link that can be sent to the emails of members to self-register under the organization?
    • Organization logs into groups.ussf2010.org
    • User or Organization follows personal navigation link to "Edit Profile"
    • User or Organization can change any profile information, but also sees link "Update/Change Registration"
    • User enters members' names and email addresses for placeholders
    • New members listed for placeholders are sent registration confirmation and sent to groups.ussf2010.org
  5. Organization wants to register 115 members for the social forum.
    • Organization should contact Resources WG or Logistics/Registration WG and we'll import the members as a csv file
  6. Organization wants to reserve spots, but does not know who will attend (no names).
  7. Multiple persons want to register and propose a workshop together.
    • Moot. Must be an organization to propose a workshop, no?
  8. Multiple organizations want to register and propose a workshop together.
    • Each organization registers on community.ussf2010.org and is automatically given an account on groups.ussf2010.org
    • One of the organizations must create a workshop group type
    • Creating organization can add other organizations or individuals to the group making them admins or managers or simply members
    • Group page for workshops should reflect this language (i.e. admins and managers can only be organizations - separate user types - and this is displayed or called "workshop presenters")
  9. Individual is registered. Now they want to register an organization with themselves as a member.
  10. Individual wants to register and volunteer on location during the forum.
    • User registers, clicks "Volunteer with the USSF" box.
    • User is sent registration confirmation email
    • User is sent volunteer update information via newsletter and told to follow instructions somehow to get them into CiviEvent database so that they can be managed by volunteer coordinators???
  11. Individual has already registered and wants to go back to community and volunteer.
    • User follows personal navigation link on groups.ussf2010.org to "Edit Profile"
    • User can edit any profile information, but also sees link "I want to Volunteer with the USSF"
    • Link leads user to community.ussf2010.org, is automatically logged into this site, and asked to edit his/her registration information, including checking the box for volunteering
    • User updates information and is redirected to groups.ussf2010.org
    • Or, this has opened in a separate window and user can simply go back to groups.ussf2010.org window.
  12. Organization is already registered and wants to add/modify attendees.
    • (same as below)
  13. Individual or Organization wants to change registration information.
    • User or Organization logs into groups.ussf2010.org
    • User or Organization follows personal navigation link to "Edit Profile"
    • User or Organization can change any profile information, but also sees link "Update/Change Registration"
    • Link leads user or organization to community.ussf2010.org, is automatically logged into the site, and asked to edit registration information.
    • User or Organization updates information and is redirected to groups.ussf2010.org (or community.ussf2010.org opens up in a different window and simply leads to a dead end, thus the user can return to groups.ussf2010.org window)
  14. Individual registered under an organization (but not the creator of the registration) wants to change their information.
    • (see use case 8, 9)
  15. Organization wants to contribute to the Helping Hand Fund to sponsor low income/student/unemployed attendee.
    • Specifically, organizations can pay for each other by coordinating this themselves, but each organization must have a separate registered profile.
    • CiviCRM allows for event registration to include CiviContribute donation link. This should actually be on all of the registration profiles.
  16. Individual is told she/he is being included in Helping Hand Fund and registers.
    • Moot. Let's not encourage this sort of pandemonium.
