May 28, 2009 meeting notes

Attending: Charles, Josue, Mallory, Jamie, Nancy, Ross, Lou, Alfredo, and Sarah (note taker)

1. Report back on wiki training

  • 1st session yesterday, intro and orientation
  • More about call to all - meeting trying to bring in more people, 40 or so present, introductory meeting

2. How are we addressing accessibility issues for the handicapped etc.?

  • website and wiki made accessible, e.g. voice reader compatibility
  • good principle to make sure sites are valid html and compliant with accessibility -- website to evaluate
  • language compatibility? 2007 languages supported were English, Spanish, and sign language -- official language access meeting still to come -- Lou will follow up with language access group -- official language mandates will not be decided without a face-to-face, next is July 19

3. Follow-up on June 22 launch

  • established sub-committee to move interim website forward and design logo
  • content discussion e.g. testimonials
  • *** Save the Date - what email will be associated with web communications, time table set for establishing web communication but not sure technology will be ready
  • communications asking tech team to get framework in place - Alfredo tentative chair of website subcommittee - question of tech team just being service providers, but would rather be collaborators - website should encourage direct participation - Charles will be liaison with communications - those interested in website work will meet ASAP
  • how will we communicate with past 2007 participants - question over email communication - Jaimie will meet with resource group - but question is larger, who all needs to be involved to answer questions - Charles to start wiki page to outline bigger questions
  • Jaimie proposal: make this issue (previous point) our next meeting and invite others -

4. List of contacts http://ict.ussf2010.org/wiki/ICT isn't populated, can we also share contact information that isn't necessarily on web for all to see?

  • safety of emails
  • transparency and ease of use need to balance needs of safety
  • for now just put self on contact page and as much info as you feel comfortable, will continue to address above two issues

  • Mark may be familiar with this topic - Nancy will ask via list

6. People's Movement Assembly/Kentucky Social Forum

  • PMA launch at Kentucky Social Forum
  • representative to attend event
  • especially important to have tech rep to help with PMA
  • connection for hemispheric conference
  • start wiki page to discuss PMA and tech connections
  • official liaison - Josue to contact, Sarah possibly attend
